Role Summary/Purpose: The analytic engineer will develop and implement advanced data-analytics driven solutions to improve and optimize the performance, reliability, availability and maintainability of customer assets.
The analytic engineer will be responsible for conducting high quality empirical research using a variety of data-mining, signal processing and engineering techniques to gain insight into our installed base of power plants and drive the development of high-value differentiated services.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Work with GE Power Management and Software Solutions teams in developing new products and services built around data-analysis. They include, but are not limited to, Turbine Performance Monitoring and Optimization, Anomaly Detection, Asset Prognostics and Health Management, Product Services Decision Support and related business analytic activities (E.g. Forecasting, Risk Analysis)

- Develop analytic applications that integrate with larger, enterprise scale software platforms (E.g. Predix)

- Execute the design, analysis and validation of assigned projects using sound engineering and statistical principles, proven data management methods and approved predictive modeling techniques while adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.

- Present values to multiple levels of management during program technical reviews.

- Leverage existing Power PS Engineering team, Global Research Center, Software Center of Excellence and other GE cross-business engineering resources.

- Develop and maintain relationships with analytic and engineering domain subject matter experts; demonstrate strong verbal / writing communication skills and pass through complex situations with strength in identifying and mitigating risks
Qualifications/Requirements:
- BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science or related disciplines. MS or PhD. preferred.

- Strong analytic skills, including formal training/course work in one of the following disciplines: Statistical Signal Processing, Probability & Statistics, Data-Mining/Machine Learning and Operations Research.

- Related work experience in developing/using algorithms and systems related to data fusion, statistical signal processing, machine learning and data-management

- 5+ years of operation or maintenance experience at power plants or related entitles(E.g. Design/research institute)

- knowledge of programming language / tools like R, Java, SQL, Python, Matlab, etc. is preferred

- Ability to work in a dynamic environment with a wide variety of organizations and individuals in global locations.

- Ability to translate customer requirements into clearly defined analytic processes
